Peel Aston Global has donated some money to United Kingdom-based boxer, Larry Ekundayo, to enable him to get medical treatment for his broken hand.
The Nigeria-born boxer, who broke his
wrists in a World Boxing Organisation intercontinental title fight in
July, had disclosed that his career would be on the line if he did not
receive urgent medical attention.
Peel Aston Director, Khomeini Bukhari,
said his company made a donation of an undisclosed amount of money to
the pugilist in London.
Bukhari, in a statement on Tuesday, said he flew to the UK to present the money to Ekundayo.
He said, “I felt it obligatory to fly
over to the United Kingdom to help by generously making a cash donation
to Larry ‘The Natural’ Ekundayo on Friday, September 29, 2017, at the
West Ham Boys Amateur Boxing Club in Plaistow.
“I am in Nigeria very often and gain from the country and I believe it’s my duty to give back.”
Bukhari also pleaded with rich Nigerians to support Ekundayo.
The statement quoted Ekundayo as
expressing gratitude to PAG and Bukhari for their financial support,
adding that he pledged to make Nigeria proud.
“I am very grateful for the help Peel
Aston Global has given to me and after my treatment, I will surely
make my country Nigeria proud; It touched me greatly when Khomeini
Bukhari came to help me, though not a Nigerian, he has a lot of love for
the people of our great nation,” the boxer reportedly stated.
Speaking in the same vein, Ekundayo’s
commercial agent Ben Gray expressed his gratitude to PAG and Bukhari for
the donation, noting that with the support, the boxer would be able to
get back in the ring.
“Nigeria should be very grateful to Peel
Aston Global, for helping one of their elite fighters to get his career
back on track. With this support Larry’s fantastic management company,
MTK, can put him back into the top fights, so he could win titles for
Nigeria,” the agent said.
