16 World-Shattering Details In Famous Movies Everybody Missed

Film buffs love to come up with crazy fan theories for all of their favorite movies. Especially thanks to the Internet, there’s so much room for overanalyzing every moment of a film.
That being said, there are some “secrets” to popular films that aren’t really secrets at all. They may not be well known, but they’re certainly hiding in plain sight! All you need to know is where to look.
That’s the case with these 16 amazing details that you’ve probably missed in films that you’ve likely seen more than once. Each one provides incredible new insight into what makes these movies special!
1. I Am Legend: While it’s not onscreen for long, this poster for a movie featuring both Batman and Superman is featured in the 2007 film. Only, this movie was released close to a full decade before Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice. Turns out, writer/producer Akiva Goldsman wrote an early draft of the eventual superhero flick.

2. The Dark Knight: When out of his Batman costume, billionaire playboy Bruce Wayne may not drive the Batmobile, but he still has a sweet ride: a Lamborghini Murciélago. Funny enough, in Spanish, “murciélago” means “bat.”

3. Home Alone: Apparently, even if Kevin’s family hadn’t completely forgotten about him on the morning of their trip, he wouldn’t have made it. Eagle-eyed viewers say his father accidentally throws out his passport earlier in the movie, after Kevin spills milk all over everyone else’s passports!

4. Moana: The title character in this animated hit uses a carpet with the same design as the magic carpet from Aladdin! It’s an extremely brief cameo, but a memorable one once you notice it. It’s a nice little Disney Easter egg.

5. The Matrix: During the “woman in red” scene, in which Neo sees a demonstration of how certain details are duplicated by coders to save time, the extras were played by different sets of triplets and twins. This one would be impossible to catch unless you knew about it!

6. The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring: During a memorable scene, Aragorn is unable to save his friend Boromir from a tragic end. Throughout the next two films, Aragorn wears his fallen comrade’s arm guards in his honor!

7. Inception: As famously ambiguous as the ending may be, there’s an important detail that may make things more definitive: Cobb’s wedding ring, which some say is his actual totem. Whenever he’s in a dream, he’s not wearing the ring. He’s not wearing it at the end of the film!

8. Star Wars: Episode II – Attack of the Clones: In one scene in the 2002 film, a couple in a bar tries to distract Obi-Wan Kenobi and Anakin Skywalker. In reality, the man and woman are the same actors who played Mouse and the “woman in red,” respectively, in The Matrix!

9. The Departed: In a reference to Scarface, X’s are peppered throughout the film, symbolizing the tragic downfalls of the protagonists. It’s a subtle bit of foreshadowing… until you actually notice it. Then the Xs are everywhere!

10. Shrek: At the beginning of this 2001 animated movie, a bear family can be seen in a cage. They’re just background characters, but the mother is missing the next time we see them. It turns out that she was turned into a rug in Lord Farquaad’s bedroom!

11. Jurassic World: Inside the Jeep that Gray and Zack drive is a tag that reads “029.” This marks it as the same Jeep that was featured prominently in the original Jurassic Park, decades earlier!

12. Guardians of the Galaxy: When Peter Quill, also known as Star Lord, gets captured, a number of details about him are displayed onscreen, including a “translator implant,” which explains why all the extraterrestrial characters in the film speak English!

13. Captain America: The Winter Soldier: The notebook that Cap uses to keep track of the entertainment and history he plans to catch up on (as he had been frozen since World War II) had different entries based on what country the film was shown in!

14. Kill Bill Volume 1: O-Ren Ishii tells The Bride “you might not last five minutes” right before their showdown. The Bride kills her exactly four minutes and 59 seconds into the fight! That day was probably a stressful one for the continuity team.

15. Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone: In this movie, also known as Harry Potter and the Philsopher’s Stone in the United Kingdom, features a scene where Neville Longbottom can’t remember what he’s forgotten. The answer to Neville’s question was always hiding in plain sight!

16. Back to the Future: The first time that Marty goes back in time near the Twin Pines Mall, he runs over one of the two trees on Old Man Peabody’s lawn with the DeLorean. When he returns, the sign has changed to “Lone Pine Mall!”

These details prove that there is very little in the art of making a great film that is ever done by accident. It really gives you a new sense of appreciation!
